There is a growing demand for technological education teachers in Limestone high schools. LDSB, in partnership with Queen’s University Faculty of Education, has launched a joint recruitment program inviting trades-qualified professionals to become certified technological education teachers.

LDSB and Queen’s University are the first in the province to offer this year-long program that supports skilled tradespeople earning their Ontario teaching qualifications while continuing to work. Staffing outcomes for the inaugural year saw a 70% return rate for recruitment to employment. LDSB hired full-time and occasional staff to cover 11 sections in Transportation, Construction, Manufacturing and Healthcare. The outlook for the May 2024 recruitment cycle is strong.
